20a Mountpleasant is a multi-purpose building that contains a 4-bedroom dwelling, over a basement architecture studio and a street level shop-front style exhibition and gathering space. Situated on a plot previously used as a shop premises and the rear garden of an historic dwelling on Mountpleasant Square, while sitting between two Georgian terraces and the prominent red brick Mountpleasant Inn – the design of the project aimed to merge these contexts. The building was a prototype for the work methods of the practice and has informed future projects.
