Imleach
A family farm on fields that roll from the coastal Ballinskelligs–Waterville road down to the Inny Strand provides a stunning location for this new family home in Kerry.
The project merges the traditional form of a dormer farmhouse with a series of single-storey spaces that step down towards the coast. A generous living space is located at the end of this sequence with views to the bay, and across to Hog’s Head and Scarriff Island beyond.
The design language is a sympathetic yet contemporary interpretation of existing vernacular and agricultural buildings of the area. A simple pallet of material is proposed, comprising slate and zinc roofs, sand and cement rendered walls and local stone cladding.
